Microsoft has recently announced that they will be moving up the launch of the latest Dynamics GP update from December, and instead launch Dynamics GP 2018 R2 in October 2018. This will not only mean new functionality sooner for customers, but also the release date of Dynamics GP 2018 R2 will be more in line with other Microsoft business applications which are typically released in October. This will assist customers when it comes to the renewal of their Microsoft products as there will be fewer renewal dates to remember and less costly surprises.
Microsoft has also released the latest Roadmap detailing what users can expect to see included in future releases of Dynamics GP. The Roadmap goes up to 2020, meaning that there are no plans to scrap Dynamics GP anytime soon, showing Microsoft’s commitment to continue providing supported and updated versions.
As with all new releases of Dynamics GP, we can expect to see a number of new enhancement features and improved functionality being made available. On the 1st October 2018, Microsoft will make GP 2018 R2 available and we have highlighted the following main new features that will be included:
These new features have been put together following suggestions from the Dynamics GP communities, enhancement requests from users, as well as bug fixes from customers.
As well as the above features, Microsoft will add a new option to deploy Dynamics GP 2018. This hybrid option, called Intelligent Edge, synchronises Business Central with Dynamics GP business data to give customers new analytics, default Power BI reports and a new mobile portal for viewing charts and reports.
This will therefore allow users to access a mobile portal to analyse on-premises Dynamics GP data. Microsoft has said that this synchronisation between Dynamics GP and Business Central will be available to be set up using a simple wizard.
